Rendezvous With Treason: The Andre/Arnold Conspiracy

The Pound Ridge Library and the Pound Ridge Historical Society collaborate in presenting a special event in celebration of our nation's 250th anniversary. Rendezvous With Treason: The Andre/Arnold Conspiracy is a dramatic portrayal that shares the history of two of the  most intriguing characters in the American Revolution—Major John André and General Benedict Arnold  and their fateful meeting in Haverstraw, New York in  1780. The events following their collusion played out  across Putnam, Westchester and Rockland Counties.  The production allows these infamous men an opportunity to tell their side of the story and their motivation  behind the plot that could have ended the cause of  Independence.

The production is presented by Drama From the Past, founded by Sean Grady and Gary Petagine.
Sean Grady is a middle school social studies who enjoys bringing his passion for history to his students each day at Ardsley Middle School. He is the winner of the 2023 Outstanding Teacher of American History Award from the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).  Outside of the classroom he has performed in over 60 regional theater productions throughout Westchester County and New York City. With Drama from the Past he has portrayed, Major John Andre, Alexander Hamilton, John Paulding, James Livingston, George Clinton and Admiral Richard Lord Howe.

Gary Petagine is a retired special education teacher having taught 36 years at Carmel High School. Gary is co-founder of a Living History program at Carmel. In 2013, he was nominated for the DAR Outstanding Teacher of American History Award.  Gary was the recipient of the 2015 Putnam Historian's Award.  Other notable Revolutionary War era portrayals that Gary has performed for Drama From the Past are: Benedict Arnold, John Adams, Nathaniel Pendleton, Benjamin Tallmadge, Richard Montgomery, John Laurance, Anthony Wayne and John Lamb.

Both historical re-enactors, Sean and Gary designed a course for Living History Education Foundation about the Andre/Arnold Conspiracy. As a result of its popularity, they decided to write Rendezvous with Treason: The Andre/Arnold Conspiracy in order to bring the story to life for the general public. Since 2009, Sean and Gary have performed as Major John Andre and General Benedict Arnold at museums, historic sites, taverns, restaurants, libraries, and historical societies all over the Tri-State Area.

The Pound Ridge Library and the Pound Ridge Historical Society are thrilled to co-sponsor this presentation in observance of the 250th anniversary of our nation. Come celebrate with us!
