Upon its release in 1960, Hitchcock’s groundbreaking Psycho shocked the critics and terrified audiences around the world. Yet Hitchcock saw it as a comedy!
“The content was rather amusing,” he said, “it was a big joke. I was horrified to find so many people took it seriously. Psycho was intended to make people scream and yell, but no more than screaming and yelling on a roller-coaster.”
